When we break car windows for doing rescues, (I'm a firefighter and EMT), we use a tool which puts an impact into a small area of the window, which will shatter the window as you describe, but normally the window will retain it's shape until we disturb it further. So, it's not unexpected to me that it would keep it's shape, given either an impact, or as someone else mentioned, a drastic sudden temperature change. It could have been someone trying to break in (but, I wouldn't think the rear window would be the chosen route of entry; I would pop a back-side window myself to get in a 900; closer to the door lock), so I'd think the temperature was more likely than an intruder. I'd offer you a spare window, but I'm in Wisconsin, USA, so shipping would be ...er... pricy. Dave Hinz
