Subject: Re: Saab 9.5 Bike Rack

At risk of personal attack again, I'll say what I've always said: I don't know what type of carrier you are considering, but put bikes on roof racks, not rear mounted carriers. I know of at least one serious accident where a pedestrian was impaled by a reversing car with a bike rack, and of more than one instance of a motorcyclist (of which I'm one, in addition to the Saab 9000) being killed due to the way bikes are carried on the rear of vehicles. It makes a complete folly of the idea that modern cars (especially Saab) are safer, both for their occupants and anyone around them. Not to mention the Illegality of the ones I usually see, where the rear lights and number plates are completely obstructed. Sorry, but it's a personal thing with me, one of the fatalities was a colleague.
