It IS safe to change your OWN oil. That way you know it is done right. Besides, the C900 is different from just about ANY other car and it is actually an easy mistake. Think about it. The kid was probably just out of high school and has no training in anything let alone Saab mechanics. You may save a few bucks doing the 'quik change' route, but you also run a risk of them messing something up. The dealers and indie mechanics refer to it as a 'Service' instead of an oil change for a reason. They also inspect other potential problems as well. Best to find a good mechanic and consider him your partner in keeping your nice old car running well.
