Subject: Re: Towing kayaks with a 9000

I have a racing canoe that is 19 feet long, so yes I do carry long loads on top of the car. I know it will sound strange, but I like to store my boats out of the weather. The reason for this are some have wood trim and cane seats which do not tolerate long exposure to weather very well. I rigged a system to raise the boats up to the ceiling of the garage. I put the roof racks on in less than 3 minutes and with the garage door closed, just lower the boats down onto the racks. The ropes are already fitted with tarbuck knots so I can be ready to roll in about 5 minutes. The front and rear tie down points are easy - the towing points - again I have the ropes attached to the boats with an eye splice and the other end has a plastic hook with the tarbuck knot, making it easy and quick to attach the boat with six separate ropes in less than two minutes. mdeblois wrote: > My kayaks are touring boats - each is about 17 feet long.
