Hi all. I just bought a 1989 9000 2.0 16 V turbo - quite by chance (it was close to home and cheap). I think I shall be glad I did - it was sold with a broken alternator, which isn't :o) This is a right-hand drive model, to suit our roads in the UK. Tere are a number of minor niggling problems which I would like to try to fix, any advice appreciated . . . Boot (trunk) lock - this doesn't lock, either on the central locking or key. On inspection the catch looks like it probably is permanently in the locked position. Rear offside (right) door - does not lock or unlock using the central locking. This door is fitted with a child-lock lever, selecting either position does not help. Sunroof - tilts but will not slide, unless I provide a lot of mechanical assistence. Once open the roof slides quite happily until nearly (3 - 4 inches) closed, whereupon the thing gets progressively more tight and tyhe motor slows down, until the thing is jammed solid. Looking at the mechanism, there is a plate on either side which look they may provide resistance, but loosening both of these does not help. Bumpers (Fenders?) - these are plastic and painted black. The paint is badly crazed. I intend to rub them down then re-paint. There is a small dent in the rear bumper. Are there any special paints and fillers for working on the bumpers? Finally, a dumb user question. The steering wheel has a symbol which suggests adjustment and feeling at the back of the wheel there is a bar/lever which I can lift and lower. Doing so does not adjust the wheel nor does it allow the wheel to be moved. Is something stuck or am I doing it wrong? That really is all I can find wrong with the car - on the positive side it is exceptionally comfortable and smooth - despite its completed mileage of 166,000. I think I'm hooked! TIA Mal
