I mailed the technical expert at the UK Saab Owners Club, this was his response. "Could be three causes; faulty control unit that fits under the dash knee pad attached to heater vent on the pass side, solenoid in drivers door which activates the system could be at fault,if you remove door trim this could be tested when the fault exists as you should be able to activate the c/locking with a tester It could simply be a poor connection,there are block connectors on the drivers side and the passenger side in the apost area which can get wet,these need to be cleaned and checked" I hope this is of help.
