Subject: Re: Newbie: Buying a 1984 900 3D?

Hey JW, I bought a '84 900 turbo (8valve) three years ago and have loved it ever since. I'm the 4th owner of this car and was told the orig. owner brought it back with him from europe when he was stationed in Germany with the Army. I have the complete service records for the past 8 years and could see most wear and tear items have been replaced =96 turbo replaced by last owner 4 years ago. The only item really needing to be replaced is the orig. steering column as most all old Saabs require. But I drive it > 500 miles weekly and don't mind putting a quart of oil in the engine every 2 or 3 weeks. Very little rust throughout the car except the hatch needed body work, as is common for it to leak. The orig. paint still looks good. And every thing still works considering the age of the car. Even the orig. air conditioning works really well. It was a great investment for $1700. I encourage any one considering buying an older Saab to do so with confidence. =96 David
