No, this is not only a UK problem as I've seen plenty of classic 900s with rust on the hoods. It generally occurs on the side of the hood (toward the rear, near the lip that turns under at the hood's base). The rust typically forms beneath the steel plate that is connected to the "striker" that runs along the body when the hood is closed. Since this area is covered by the plate assy., access is nearly impossible to reach the rust forming on the inside of the hood's side. For some reason, it seems to occur most often on the right-hand side. Don Urbana, IL
