In my experience I can say... that it CAN NOT handle the extra 25HP. I have a 95 Aero (standard tranny) and my g/f has (had) a 95 CSE (Automatic). She has gone through two tansmissions, two exhaust "rebuilds" and it somehow bent something on the motor when it let go the second time.. so SAAB put a new engine in it! They accused her of driving it too hard! This is totally not the case in any way shape or form. She never drove it hard, and she rarely allowed me to drive it (thats why I had the Aero). So it was babied. Mine was, and still is, driven hard everyday and I have had no problems. We were told again and again, do not get the auto again!! We were so tired of this, that we traded it in on a RAV4. The auto (at least in 1995) could not handle the little 2.3 LPT engine. Maybe since the General has taken over, they have a handle on the tranny situation, but dont hold your breath!
