I own a 1993 classic 900SE. I have recently noticed some rust on the outside of the bonnet, on the driver's side at the extreme edge of the bonnet near to the driver's door. On closer inspection inside the bonnet I found that the rust is very bad all along the small lip that runs up the inside of the edge and that the rust had spread through to the outside. I have investigated the possibility of a repair only to be recommended to get a replacement bonnet as a guaranteed permanent repair is no longer possible. I have also been told that this is a very common problem with bonnets on the classic 900 and that it is likely to happen when the car is over 4 years old. I have managed to locate some suppliers of second hand bonnets for around £100+VAT, further to this a respray is another £150+VAT, overall an fairly expensive job. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, do you have any good tips for a more permanent solution ?. Thanks, Matthew.
