Subject: Saab 900 - power loss then 'check ACS' ??

Hi I recently bought a Saab 900 Sensonic and the car ran fine for two or three weeks. I took the car for a main dealer service. Within 20 miles of leaving the dealer the car lost power and finally the engine cut out altogether. The 'Check ACS' light remained 'on' when I tried to start the car again. When the engine finally started, the brake pedal felt 'hard' and when I shifted the gear lever to first the engine just revved, as though the clutch was not engaged. This was the same in all gears. I think I could feel a 'clunking' beneath the brake pedal whenever I switched the engine off - although I couldn't be sure. After about an hour the Check ACS light went out, and the car drove perfectly again. A return to the dealer and a quick diagnostics check revealed no recorded errors. The car drove fine again for a couple of days, and then the same thing happened again - only this time the wife was driving and stuck in the middle of nowhere. She experienced the same problem - loss of power, the engine behaves as if the clutch is not engaging. Fortunately for her, the Check ACS light went out after about 5 minutes, and she was able to drive home without further problems. The problem seems to point to the Sensonics, although I'm not sure why the car loses power or why the brake pedal hardens. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Godders
