If I'm sitting still, I can engage 5th just fine : and I can tell that it's catching, but if I'm on the freeway, I just : can't get it to take. This doesn't seem too logical to me because 1st, : 3rd, and Reverse are usually the ones to go . Anyone got any crazy : ideas? Or am I looking at a tranny rebuild? This is a fresh : transmission that was just recently installed (and luckily is still : under warranty) Sounds like a linkage mis-alignment. The center console, did that get removed during this process? If so, it sounds like whoever put it back didn't get it lined up right. Loosen up the bolts that hold it in place, & move it whichever direction gives you the motion on the stick, towards where you need it. (play with it, it becomes clear while you're doing it). If you're lucky, you'll see marks where the bolts *were* tightened down, which aren't where they *are* now. Dave Hinz
