Subject: Dead SAAB vs. Rusty Mazda....

Hi folks - My 1989 SAAB 900 died and my efforts to get it running didn't work. It won't start, I don't hear the fuel pump and new relays didn't fix it. I hear a sparking noise as I turn it on from the engine compartment, but only the first time after sitting a while. When used jumpers (instead of relays) on the LH system relay and the Fuel Pump relay, the car sounded like the battery had just died. This sounds like harness somewhere right? I gave up and towed it to the dealer. If you had a choice between this SAAB 900 178K, and a 1990 Mazda Protege 90K which would you take? The Mazda has never stranded us but the last inspection required new springs and other suspension pieces. The SAAB has stranded me three times, but hasn't had trouble with inspections. -Dan
