Subject: Next oil question

Now that we seem to have a split between Castrol GTX and Synthetic/Synthetic blend, Ny next question is for the Synth./blend folks. I've been told by an extremely knowlegable, but non certified mechanic that by using synthetic oils, I should then increase the mileage between changes. His logic is that since it doesn't break down, it doesn't require as short a change interval. Now he's not saying to run it 10,000 miles, but to increase the interval to 5000 miles for anyone that usually change at 3000. What's your perspective on that? I'm one that religiously change between the 3000 and 4000 mile mark. Thanks in advance. Greg
