Subject: Re: Size of tyres for 900

--------------86857C9D16E4C7B941B48912 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This came from TireRack web site Example...185/60R14 The first number is the width of the tire in millimeters, measured from sidewall to sidewall. To convert to inches, divide by 25.4 In the example above, the width is 185mm or 7.28". The second number is the aspect ratio. This is a ratio of sidewall height to width. In the example above, the tire is 7.28" wide, multiply that by the aspect ratio to find the height of one sidewall. In this case, 185x0.60=111mm or 7.28"x0.60=4.36". The last number is the diameter of the wheel in inches. To figure the outside diameter of a tire, take the sidewall height and multiply by 2,(remember that the diameter is made up of 2 sidewalls, the one above the wheel, and the one below the wheel) and add the diameter of the wheel to get your answer. There's a nifty tire size calculator at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Hope this helps, -- Remove "NOSPAM" from address for direct e-mail ####### # #### # # # # # # # ## # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # #### # # # ManuSuys wrote: > Greetings, > > Currently my Saab 900 has tyres of 185/65 R15 88T. > Can any of you explain the numbers as to what they mean. > > My manual says I should have for a manual 5 gear 900: 175/70 R15 86T. > > What is the difference? > > Appreciate your replies. > Thank you beforehand. > > Regards > Manny from Munich > Saab 900 '84 --------------86857C9D16E4C7B941B48912 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en"> <html> This came from TireRack web site <br>Example...185/60R14 The first number is the width of the tire in millimeters, <br>measured from sidewall to sidewall.
