Is this a left or right hand drive car? Sounds like the safety valve, which was the cause of mine going into limp-home mode a while back. Depends if you want to risk changing it without any guarantees. The best bet is to let your dealer put the car onto his ISAT or Tech 11 machine. This gave instant results and a quick repair for me. One other way to get help might be from www.alldatadiy.com I've subscribed to this and found it very useful at times, if only to get the inside story on what the faults might be. Pete.
