Guava Baby says... >> >At the 1991 convetion there was much talk by SAAB about the new 900. >> >At that time, it had not been badged as a 900. In fact, they asked >> >the audience what they thought the name should be. Mostg everyone >> >there said "900". >> >> Really? I wouldn't have. > >Ah, but in '91 you wouldn't have known (I assume) just how butt-ugly the new line >was going to be. You are correct, but I'd know enough to realize if they were changing it then I wouldn't want the "900" name to be tarnished at all. >It might've seemed like a good idea to keep the proud name of 900 >going. Maybe to some, but my train of thought is - New look = New identity = New name. It's just how I am. > >> >Among the other details that were mentioned at that >> >time was the fact that the key was going back where it belonged. >> >> Bull....I liked where the key was just fine. I never had a problem with it. If >> people put their drinks there - that is their problem, not Saabs. > >Wait... the ignition on NG 900s is on the steering column? Eyuk. I don't know is it? I just assumed by his statement that it was. It is on my 9000 and I don't care for it. Do you know how easy it is to hot wire that car? I was told, very simple anyway. >What about 9-3s and 9-5s? > >> >Of course many of us wondered if this meant we could afford to >> >buy a new one. We knew the answer to that. >> >> I just did not like them, heard so much negative about them from techs and >> owners, and all the problems they had at first really could've been avoided. >> I'm not sure how because I'm not in the industry, but I realize it is more than >> just quality testing. > >Yes, but again, in '91 you wouldn't have known all this and if you were a big Saab >fan you probably would've expected great things. Of course, I do expect great things from them, but they've let me down before. I can't stand when companies forget there is a face, a PERSON behind every vehicle and in their dealings with you, you are just VIN#0000000000. That's bad marketing and even I (who knows nothing about the subject) know enough to realize that is wrong. They're better than FORD though. ~J~
