VIKINGMAN says... >I had a 900 T16 -85, which I would shift under 2500 rpm on normal driving. >When some kid thought his "whatever GTI" was faster, I'd go to 5.500 - 6.000 >rpm. No worries about overturning the engine, as the rpm-stop is around >6.000 (6.200 i believe). Yeah, I found that out. >Using the turbo and focusing on the "opponent", it >often happened, that the rpm-stop was reached. Often? I stopped doing that now. > >About durability. I believe that the reason for Saab's loooong living >engines is the fact that the engines most often run with low rpm's. You do huh? I know this professor and he drives around in 5th no matter what because he is too lazy to shift. I drove his Saab, and I felt a difference (it was a 900 too) and I KNOW driving like he does is not good. The car is practically bucking! Compare >to Toyota's, Honda's and so on, with the red part starting at 8 - 9.000 >rpm..... The Honda I had just had too many head gasket problems, time after time. I got sick of it. ~J~
