Subject: Re: Classic 900, occasional smell of petrol inside the car whilst driving

Had this problem on my 1988 900T. The issue was the line where it connected to the fuel filter canister. There was a small crack which allowed fuel to dribble when the system was not pressurized. The canister (on my '88) was located under the car just below the rear passenger seat with the fuel tube running into the cavity below the seat (and then to the driver's door rocker and to the fire wall and the engine FYI) The bit of fuel was traveling down the outside of the fuel line, through the grommet into the interior under the rear seat and smelling like hell. This fuel line is a semi-rigid plastic which has almost *NO* slack and is hardly a DIY project to cut and force back on the fitting at the fuel filter. Luckily my indie was a friend and we were able to cut the line and get the fitting back on w/ enuf slack to fit all back together....Long winded, but I hope that points you toward a solution ...
