I totally agree on changing the gearoil. I do it once a year! The gearoil will go bad, just as an engine-oil - condensed water a.s.o. - water will deff. tear on your gears.... > I also use two to three ounces of Militec-1 in my 5 spds. The first > time I used it with my 83 900T, the metallic sludge disappeared from the > magnetic drain plug. You written this before and what worries me is, where did the metal-sludge go??? Where I want it, is right there on the magnet, so I can remove it, whenever I change the oil. I wouldn't want it circulating in the oil! And don't tell me that Militec-whatever will dissolve it! > The trans also shifted very smooth. Often it is not the gearbox, but the way it is used and maintained. People switch back... Again, I agree. Saab cars has such a high torque, compared to other engines, that it can kill any gearbox. Used the right way (= take care of it), the gearbox will last as long as the engine. Cheers!
