Well, as an example, the Pirelli P7000 comes as a summer tire or as the P7000 SuperTouring which is an 'all season'. All season tires are marked M+S, AFAIK. However, they are distinguished from a true winter tire in that the winter tires are designed to maximize winter (snow) traction at the expense of wet, dry, and summer traction. All seasons are a compromise in Winter traction, with almost 'normal' Summer, wet, and dry traction. Still, they are way ahead of a 'Summer' tire - which goes nowhere in the snow. Bob
