Subject: Re: 1986 900S Fuel Pump Relay? Where is it?

Hi GuitarMan - I just went through this with an 1989. I was down for a month, but I wasn't in a hurry because I had another car. A rebuilt ECU is ~$375-$395... There's another post (see below) that says you want to make sure you are getting the right part number. I bought two relays and changed them back and forth, finally gave up and towed it to the dealer. They gave me the $395 part cost and I called a Saab parts place and got a $375 quote, but you have to send the "core" back to get that price and if it's not the ECU it's probably not worth the hassle. The ECU had to be special ordered and I shipped it the cheap way because I had time. Good luck, as you see below I'm close to giving up on the Saab. -Dan Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 17:47:30 GMT From: "KeithG" <noonenopsaml.com> 1989 was the year for the failures. Mostly, the LH computers work fine. It is just with the 1989 model year. 1989 900 non-turbo 2.0 box SAAB 7 48 71 35 SAAB reman 88 26 026 Bosch 0 280 000 564 Make sure that the 'new' box has the appropriate number and that you are not getting a NOS 'bad' part number. A used one will work as well, just don't get one from a 1989 unless it has the reman part number. Get it replaced and drive it a long while more. Don't give it up for a ProtÈgÈ. You WILL regret it!
