I believe the Miata is rear wheel drive? The rear wheel drive versus front wheel drive has been debated for a long time. I prefer the Saab, possibly because it is a good affordable compromise of dry/wet handling and safety. Unfortunately, I can personally testify to the safety and durability of a Saab over Mazada. I lost my front bumper and the Mazada was totaled with a bent frame. The older rear wheel drive Volvos are very safe, but the Saab out handles the rwd Volvos, especially in the snow. If the world was perfect, I would drive a small sports car, like the Miata. I drove the early MR2 model down back country roads, with its redline of 8,000 RPMS :-).
