Is this something I should be concerned about? > The dealer says he will ride with me for a bit later this week and advise > me if the smell is "normal". > First of all, congrats with your Saab! :-) For the airconditioning system it is important to be used at least about once a week, using it 'refreshes' the filters etc. If the first owner didn't use it much, or the car was sitting at the dealer for a long time, it might have developed some sort of fungus (I'm not kidding!) in the system. This may not only smell unpleasant, but can also cause allergic reactions with the people inside the car. This is why a lot of people feel sick when they use their airco for the first time after the winter. But, the solution should not be too hard... there are sprays you can buy almost everywhere, which you can run through your airco and which work as a sort of fungicide. After this you should just regularly use the airco. Still, you should let your dealer advise... it may be something else. If you buy a spray like this, be carefull and read the manual, it affects the air you constantly breath in! -Geert
