Well ....based on the fact that I've driven two 1980's vintage Saab 900's and a Mazda Protege way over that milage says no 48K is very early. Do you slip the clutch a lot? Actually, I've never changed a clutch yet, but at 178K on the Saab and 90K on the Mazda I think it's coming up. I did pay a similar amount for some transmission work on the first Saab, and that figure wouldn't suprise me at all.
