Subject: Pulsating brakes, climbing idle

I have an 89 900S, 170K. Problem 1) Unstable idle. Had a stable, ~900 rpm for years. Now after starting, it starts at about 1100 rpm and climbs to about 1400 rpm over a period of 7-10 seconds, then drops back to 1100. This cycle then continuously repeats itself. Behavior doesn't seem to change after warm-up--I think. Engine runs fine otherwise. No starting problems. Fuel management computer replaced a few years ago. Problem 2) Pulsating brakes. This is especially noticeable just prior to stopping. My dealer had a look and said the rear rotors were warped, which were replaced. No difference. Is it obvious that the front rotors are also warped/need turned, or could this be caused by another problem--something in the power assist system? Could there be a relationship between Problems 1 and 2? Dave
