Hi Bryan, Saab considers seat damage (due to use) a wear issue and won't consider it as a warranty repair. One thing I can recommend is; Don't even think of getting upholstery repair pieces from your dealer (especially leather). BIG $$$$! Find a local upholstery shop that will match and replace the bottom part of the seat (that's usually where the wear is worst). With new leather, Lexol makes great preventative maintenance products, i.e. Leather cleaner and conditioner, which should be available from your FLAPS (friendly local auto parts store). There are also certain products you can buy that will condition/moisturize old dry, cracked leather and possibly make it a little bit more durable. But they will obviously not get the cracks out of the seat or take off whatever kind of paint/dye has been applied. '98 is/was a really good year for the NG900's (My wife has a '98 SE 3Dr.). Be sure to take it to your local dealer for the most recent recall to date which requires a ground strap for the passenger-side airbag as static electricity has been blamed for suddenly setting it off. From what I've heard, this has only actually happened in one instance, but Saab is definitely interested in driver safety so they're trying to nip this issue in the bud. For more info on your vehicle, try searching through the NG900 bulletin board on Saabnet.com (The Saab Network) www.saabnet.com . There are many experienced owners of NG900's that can help you out with pretty much any problem you may experience. Have fun, Brian G. According to records pax seat back was recently recovered by Saab.
