I guess an oil leak around the spark plugs is a > good indicator of this problem. > When the DI unit failed on my 9000 CSE, I took the unit apart. The coils are emerged into some black tar-like solidified substance for insulation, but there was no traces of oil. Oil in the spark plug holes indicates a head gasket problem. One of the coils had burned through the insulation. Since the DI is in metallic contact with the engine, there is little chance of independent cooling. This is the root of the problem. A hotter than normal engine temp puts the DI in jeopardy. I wouldn't buy a secondhand DI unit, but this is of course a personal choice. I bought a new unit at a very good price from a supplier I found in a club magazine. Johannes > Hope this helps. > > Regards > > John
