If you remove the Daytime Running Lights fuse (number 35, I think - it is clearly labled), then have your dealer reprogram the computer, you should be able to get full manual control of the lighting. Saab, in its infinite wisdom (?) decided the headlights should always be on. The re-programming at the 30 Day Inspection is free. Be aware that if you have this done, it is easier to forget and accidently leave the lights on in the Parking Position - there is no chime or auto shut-off in this position. You can also have the programming changed to allow your foglights to operate independently of the headlights, though this is illegal in most states. I personally like this feature - sometimes you want a little extra light, but not the full glare of the headlights. And I like to be able to have the fogs stay on when the high beams kick on, to help illuminate the shoulder of the road. http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-5/index.html?bID=2252 Search the archives there and there is mich info on the 9-5's lighting quirks.
