don't do it! If it ain't broke don't fix it..... I'm talking from bitter experience here, I put Redline into my 9k Carlsson hoping to improve the shifting and ended up having to rebuild the tranny within a month due to the pinion bearings giving up. It was only after this that I found a few Saab sites on the web warning not to switch - I wish I'd seen them before! btw it didn't make any noticeable difference to shifting either! If you do insist on going synthetic make sure you flush out all of the old mineral - I know it hurts to throw away that expensive synthetic oil, but even relatively small percentage contamination with old mineral will not do you any favours. David QuasiMotors has a nice piece on how to do it in a 9k http://quasimotors.gar.net/5spd%20drain.htm not to mention a section on don't do synthetic....
