The only thing that I can think of that is an absolute, is some kind of spacer to put between the frame and the upper control arm, this will hold the pressure of the coil spring. I use a couple of pieces of Stainless steel bar stock that I pirated from work with some rather large hydraulic hose cut and wrapped around. This kind of gives them a bit of grip when you jam them in there while the car is on the ground. Otherwise the Saab tool works great. I bought one of these when a local shop went under, but there were many people out there that didn't know how to improvise and I got a very nice price for mine. If you plan on replacing the ball joints too you can use a regular pickle fork to separate them. If not just un-bolt them where they attach to the A-arm. Oh yea and take the bottom of the shock off of the control arm and the ball joint housings slide right out of the A-arms. I hope I haven't rambled too much. Good Luck!
