Sounds like the air mass meter to me. A rebuilt one will cost about 150-200.00. See if you can borrow one first to see if it helps before taking the plunge. Make sure that the Bosch number on the AMM is identical before plugging it in. The earlier LH 2.2 has the same connector but the item is different and you may end up with 2 bad AMM's or even a bad ECU!
