They felt they could produce a decent car, not a great car, but a decent car, and then advertise and manage its way to sales. The Caddy that Zigs, or was it zags? campaign completely flopped. Cadillac never really captured any market with the Catera. I think the CTS will be a bit more successful, because they are clearly going after a younger buyer looking for a sporty car....with a 5 speed! Don't know if they are going to succeed going head to head with BMW, though. Those are tight and fit cars to compete against. The good news for GM is that it looks like Bob Lutz is looking to Holden in Australia to infuse some excitement in the American line of cars at GM.
