Subject: Windshield washer pump goodluck?

So when my 1989 900 had the ECU died this summer, I had an opportunity to stare at the fuse box for quite some time. That's when I saw that two of the connections to the Rear window defogger relay were pushed way down in. I made a mental note that I should be able to fix that by getting underneath and push them up. Sure enough that worked great. AH .. except the next day I noticed that my windshield washer pump wasn't working. Checked the fuse which was fine (aren't they always?) AND there was voltage there when I pulled on the stalk. Next I went out to the tank and yanked at the connector until something broke free, which unfortunately turned out to be the end of the pump. Once I could get to the wires I checked for voltage there and that was fine too. The motor brushes looked pretty good to me as did the armature. So I decided to epoxy the end of the motor back together, and tested it on a couple of power supplies, which also worked fine. SO, I put it all back together and you guessed it... it worked fine. Any theories? I am selling the car so I'm not looking for it to last forever, but I'm curious what happened here. -Dan
