I've been a motorcyclist for over 20 years and have finally decided to switch to four wheels. I passed my test back in September and am looking for my first car. I've always wanted to own a convertible after being driven round in those owned by friends. Looking at what I can afford I am really tempted by a used SAAB 9-3 Convertible. It has a ragtop, four seats, automatic (I hate gears, especially in London traffic), a decent boot and a degree of style. But is it a good first car for a new driver? As I understand it the SAAB is quite powerful, even in those models without a turbo. Is it going to be too much for me? The only other cars I've driven are a Fiesta, Corsa and a Micra!!! I'm also not very good at reversing into parking bays (I get there eventually) and with the top up I believe that it will be pretty hard in the SAAB. If anyone out there would care to comment on the suitablity of the SAAB for me I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Lee PS: Any hints on things to look out for if I go ahead and buy one would also be useful as would any information on reverse parking aids!
