Subject: ABS warning light

Just got a price for this fault to be diagnosed and fixed and thought the group might be interested. The ABS warning light comes on after a few minutes driving and does not go off until the ignition is switched off. The fault then reappears every time (after a few minutes) after startup. Brake function is normal (haven't needed to test the ABS thankfully) The mechanic says that this is likely to be an ABS sensor problem, probably "at the front" and the sensor will need replacing. He's got a special diagnostic tool which will tell which sensor is the problem. He also says, from his experience that diagnosis of where the problem is and replacement of the sensor will take about three hours labour all up. Ballpark cost: new ABS sensor $395 labour, 3 hours Return to Main Index
