Subject: My First Saab + Lovin Every Minute-1999 9-5 v6

Today was the first full day with the car. Got up early, did some running around town, found out what the S button was for and loved it even more. What a nice car. If anyone wants to read it, I'll tell ya the long story. It was the summer of 2001 and I needed a car for a short trip. I wound up renting a 2001 9-5 v6 from enteprise rent a car on Long Island. I thought the car was very comfortable, well mannered on the hiway and, the best part, when I wanted to pass someone, so long, see you later. Liked that. Well lets skip ahead to November 2001. I need a car. The old one was way past its prime. The wife and I decided on a 99 maxima, wait, keep reading. After the maxima dealer tried the old move the sucker into the finance managers cubical and rip him off act, I went running into the parking lot, hoping my wallet was still in my back pocket! Just across the street was Smithtown Saab, and I just happened to pull in there. Took a look around, and found a 1999 9-5 v6 scarabe green with 23000 miles. That was friday 12-14-01. On tuesday we owned the car. The car is in very good condition. They did their 100 point check, certified it, and now I have a warrnty until june 2004, with 40000 mile to go. I gotta admit, if they did rip me off I didn't see it happen, and I am even smiling about it right now. Oh, are you wondering about the price? $21000. I told a friend I got the car at 50% off. Edmunds valued the car at more than $23000. I feel I paid top dollar, and I think I got a car thats in very good shape, I really enjoyed driving it around today. What a nice car. Handles beautifully. Love coming round the entrance ramp slowly and leaving the car that was on the hiway behind. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a wreckless speed demon. I have been driving some 30 years now, my last accident was 28 years ago, I can't remember my last ticket (knock on wood). I take pride in my driving and try to do it well. Are you still with me? I gotta say it again, I like this car. I was looking around for information about the car when I came across this group. I will look around a bit. Already found a few good web sites to check out. I would like to learn what I can about the car, what mechanical information there might be, what service or repair problems might be in store for me. I'll be checking back, if you can help out a saab newbie that would be nice. Where can I get the tech manuals that the mechanics use, who publishes good do it yourself books. I used to do mu own work on the cars I had, that was a few years ago though, I may have lost touch with some of the new technology. Like whats this pointless distributor I keep reading about? Anyway, thanks for putting up with me, writing about something you guys have known about for years. Just call me adl6009.
