Keyless entry requires a keyless entry/alarm ECU which can control the locks from a remote. (Manufacturers are Viper, Crime Guard, Alpine, etc). To use them, you have to rewire a little bit of the car and replace the driver's side lock switch with a lock motor. I just swap the connector housing from the switch (3 wire) to the motor (2 wire) and then make 2 'Y' jumpers and 2 straight connectors (about 2-3" long with spade connectors at each end to connect to the OE spade terminals on the relay and the connector) at the lock relay between the OE connector and the lock relay. The goal is to have 2 of the wires running to the driver's door connected the same as other 3 or 5 lock motors and have a positive and negative supply to the relay. Then use a intermittent ground on pins 1 and 2 of the lock relay to lock and unlock the doors (make sure that the motor is connected up right and that all lock at the same time). At this point, you are ready to connect the Saab lock relay to the new keyless entry ECU. These usually can be configured to give an intermittent ground pulse to one wire for 'unlock' and another wire for 'lock' as one of a few 'locking' options. You need an intermittent ground to actuate the Saab lock relay. Connect these 2 wires up to the appropriate connectors of the Saab lock relay (pins one and two, IIRC). At this point, just follow the directions that came with the keyless entry/alarm ECU. It will usually require a switch and a sensor plus a relay to disconnect the ignition. The Bentley manual comes in handy with this project as all the wiring diagrams are there. I used the (alpine - SaabGuard) alarm system which was installed when new by the dealer and just activated the light flash and lock functions as above. The simple way to get the 'light flash' is to use circuit 56 (?) on the headlight switch which is the marker lights. I did not like this and wired a double pole relay and flash the turn signals like the NG900's and 9k's. This is accomplished by running a wire to each rear turn signal light and to a relay or just tap into the back of the 'hazard' connector while you are under the dash doing the lock relay reconfiguration. If this is unclear, just post back and I will try to clear up whatever is unclear.
