I was concerned about wear and strength characteristics of having the engine chipped but I was told by the dealer that the same components (brakes, bearings, crankshafts etc etc) are used through out the range of 1.9x litre engines indicating that the 150bhp engined cars are in fact detuned wimps. I read also in one of the Saab club mags that in some markets the chipped version is the standard model. If you are presented with a ex dem 150bhp car to purchase or a nearly new as opposed to a factory order of a virgin car of your choice then going for the chipped option gives you further choice. ymmv On Tue, 1 Jan 2002 20:02:12, "Graham Wells" <grahamnopsamAMsomecomputer.fsnet.co.uk> wrote: > > "Derek Wright" <nospam.drwrighnopsamlobal.net> wrote in message > news:PzFBjCTkhOvp-pn2-7350lxYFjxlNnopsamlhost... > > Graham > > > > Have you considered a 2.0 liter engine with the improved engine > > management system, it will not impact your fuel consumption(apart from > > when you are accelerating hard) but will increase the engine power to > > about 185bhp ish > > Good point - just looked at the power & torque curves in the brochure.
