Subject: Re: Access to 900 heater hose?

There is also some hose tape that could temporarily fix you up until you can replace it. In my Mustang getting to on of the starter bolts was almost impossible. I could touch it with my hand, but getting a tool on it was seemingly not possible. I tried short, stubby tools, to no avail, then I got a tip to latch together about 2 feet of socket extensions, feed it through the front of the car, and attack the problem from a different angle. It seemed crazy, but it worked. I never knew I had that many different type of socket extensions in my toolbox. That doesn't sound like it will work here for you, but sometimes trying to think of a new approach, or a new idea for a tool you own may do the trick. It's bolts like those that make you wish you could just yank the whole engine just to get at it! Here's a tip: when you are replacing one hose, you should go ahead and replace them all while you are under the hood. Things like that tend to have similar lifespans, barring accidents that may have caused the pinhole. Hoses are relatively cheap, but it's worth your peace of mind to replace them all on a regular schedule and also flush your system while you are at it. Good luck. JJ
