I've had Saabs since 1973 - 99's and 900's and now a 1998 9-5SE. Only other car I've had which comes close to the feel of the Saabs is a Subaru Liberty - I think Legacy in UK/USA. The 9-5 is not perfect but it's pretty close. I don't like the cruise control controls - not very intuitive compared to other cars I drive, and I don't like having no window controls on the drivers door - they are on the centre console, which makes it a bugger when coming up to toll booths. One hand on the window down button, one holding the money, no hand left over for steering. Dealer service is the way to go. They have specialised diagnostic and servicing equipment to manage the computer controlled engine and accessories. I wouldn't trust any other garages with anything but basic servicing and "get you home" repairs. I think you will find that is the case for most modern cars these days. -- Regards, Peter Wilkins
