That, and the sheer numbers involved. Headlights are, what, 50 watts each? (let's say they are, just to make the math easier). The engine puts out, let's say, 100 Horsepower (again, I'm rounding to make the numbers easier. It's capable of more, but you're not always running at WOT, so it's close enough for what we're doing here.) There are about 746 watts to one horsepower, so the lights are about 1/8th of a horsepower. Given that, I'm willing to burn that energy on the off chance that the Canadian and other researchers happened to be right in their studies. Dave Hinz
