Subject: Re: 9000 intermittent rough idle/stalling

It is possible for the reduced back pressure due to an exhaust leak to cause your 9000 to run rough and idle poorly. I have an 87 9000S. Recently, I just replaced the rubber nipple and vacuum vent on top of the valve cover. There are two hoses that carry exhaust gasses back to the throttle body to be sucked into the fuel mixture. My vacuum vent and nipple were loose, allowing the smell of burned oil to get sucked into the cabin and caused the engine to run a little rough and noisy. I replaced the pieces a couple of days a go and used some B & G Throttle Body cleaner to clean the butterfly valve and throttle body. This has made a major difference. The engine runs quieter and idles smoothly now...That exhaust leak can be problem. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
