Wait a minute. You can open up the valve cover to do at least a
visual on the timing chain and determine whether it is stretched or
worn. Take a good look at the TC tensioner to see if there is still
play on the tensioner rod.
Replacing the timing chain is not a job for the weekend mechanic. You
don't act on suspicision. Plus it being a chain, is supposed to last.
I know. My 94 CS has the chain slipped on the crankshaft at 105k
miles. The reason it did was the TC sprocket walked on the crankshaft
because the bolt holding the harmonic balancer, the balance chain
sprocket and the TC sprocket wasn't tightened after a routine
maintenance. Otherwise the chain and sprocket were like new. I
opened it up after I got a 69k miles replacement engine installed.
I wouldn't replace the chain at 130k miles just yet. Open the valve
cover and take a peek first.
