Subject: Re: 88 Saab Minus Transmission
Hi -
I have a 1988 turbo convertible w/ man trans. Here are the weak links
on that car that I have discovered:
clutch, steering rack, oil leak (front seal), head gasket(leaks oil &
coolant).
If you are not the do it yourself kinda person, you could be looking at some
hefty repair bills. I did all the work myself and am now a big saab fan. It
is a well made car, not withstanding the inherent flaws I just mentioned
above. I love to drive it. the engine will last for 200,000 miles if
maintained. The trans is the weakest link in the car. But the key is, you
need to fix the weak links and you will be happy. again if you have to pay
to have it done.....
I have attached links to saab related sites, on of them "the saabsite" has
parts for way less than you'll pay at a dealer. There is a guy there named
'TW' who is excellent.
