The manual in my 2002 9-5 says that when air enters the climate control system it is first cooled. This seems to be true even when heater is on. The cooled air then can get diverted into the glove compartment. When heating is active then cooled air then gets heated. I suppose this initial cooling acts as dehumidifier. Just my guess.
