Subject: SAAB 9-5 ACC Display Faulty

Hi, Is anyone else out there experiencing problems with the ACC Display the SAAB 9-5 2.3 LPT Saloon ? Despite re-calibration and the cancelling of any programmed settings, I cannot get the 'Auto' function to show on the display. The small 'fan' icon does not show either and some of the incremental bars on the fan speed don't show. Believe the unit is knackered (broken). Am told that over here in the UK its about £250 to replace. Also heard that SAAB recognised there was a 'known' fault with the ACC display and would agree to replace it FOC if the car was less than 3 years old with less that 60k miles on the clock. Hmmm that excludes me then (3.5yrs and 80k) !! Find it odd that if they are almost admitting to a fault that they expect the customer to pay for a replacement when the fault kicks in. Fair enough - one would expect to pay for wear and tear on mechanical parts but to pay for an electrical component that is merely an interface to the AC systems seems extremely harsh. Welcome any comments so I can go to my local SAAB dealer with a more informed view from all of us SAAB owners in cyberspace! Thanks in advance. p.s. Does anyone know where you can source new (or reconditioned) units in the UK? Thanks again. Mick R
