However, I noticed that by pressing the facia in a variety of positions on the faulty unit, I could bring it back to life occasionally. I suspect it is just poor connection problems, and had it been out of warranty, I'd have had no hesitation in taking it out and seeing if I couldn't sort it myself - intermittent problems like that are usually fairly easy to fix.
