As long as you choose the correct size tire & aspect ratio, you can use a 17" rim without changing the speedo. This is also best for gearing as you do not want to change the ratio. I'm not very fond of 17" wheels on real roads. There's not a lot of tire between the rim and the road. Unless you live in a warm climate with smooth highways (California maybe) you will find yourself bending your rims in no time. Bob
