If you've got a strobe, check that yout timing is ok, and see that it advances automatically as you rev the engine. As a rough guide it should advance slowly and steadily without the vacuum advance tube attached, and sharply with it attached. My rule of thumb with these cars is to start at the cheapest solution and work your way through!
